Licensed kitchen requirements made easy by South Dakota Extension
Before food entrepreneurs can sell products to retailers, they often must have them tested or evaluated in a licensed kitchen. However, finding one or figuring out how to create one can be difficult for those trying to bring new products to market. To assist those new to the business, South Dakota University food safety specialists put together easy-to-follow information on how to get a kitchen licensed.
The information covers options such as building a licensed kitchen or getting an existing kitchen licensed in a cost-effective way. Entrepreneurs who access the information via the internet now have a complete resource that provides food processors all the information necessary to meet the state’s regulatory requirements with options that also may help them reduce costs.
